changes to make before new year

In just a few days, 2024 will be coming to an end which makes it the perfect time to reflect on various aspects of your website and secede on which tasks you want to complete by the end of the first week of the new year, 2024. Keeping the website, you already have is essential if you want your customers to know you will still be in business. It is also suitable for people to see that they can come to your website and get updated and reliable information. For that reason, there are specific changes you need to make to your website in the first week of the new year. Here they are:

1. Update Important Pages on Your Website

I’m pretty sure that you introduced new products or services to your business during the year. This is the time to update your services page. Make sure that you update other pages with the right information and details. If you have a portfolio page on your website, you may want to update it with recent work you are most proud of. The About page is also another area of your website you should consider revising because it’s usually one of the first pages people will look at when they get to your site.

2. Check If Current Calls to Action and Pop-Ups Are Working Well

Calls to action are great for generating more conversions on any site. However, like other content on your website, they can become outdated too. If you’ve got new promotions, opt-ins, or service offerings, ensure you update your calls to action to line up better expectations with website visitors.

3. Proofread and Check Links

There is nothing worse than seeing typos on a professional website. It’s only common to make grammatical mistakes from time to time since we’re all human. This is why it’s essential to take a few minutes to proofread your entire website or hire someone to do it for you. You can also use tools like Grammarly to check spelling and grammar mistakes. Don’t forget to check for broken links too. If you have popular pages or blog posts that link to helpful resources, ensure those links still work. Use the WordPress plugin, Broken Link Checker to identify and fix the broken links.

4. Update the Year on Copyright Notice

This one should be the first thing to do before the new year begins. If you are using a template or WordPress theme that automatically updates the year, that’s fine. But, if your template doesn’t allow for automatic updates, you will want to edit this to the new year manually. Changing the year to the current year significantly shows your website users that your website or blog is up to date.

Final Words

Your website is a reflection of your business and your brand. Before you start working on your website all over again, take some time to make these changes to your website and make sure everything is working correctly. Start the new year on a high note. Happy New Year, 2024.
