Add Author Image to The Bio Box in Extra Theme

The Extra Theme’s author bio box is a perfect way to give your readers a little snippet about who wrote each post. But what if your smiling face isn’t showing up in that box?

Annoying, right?

Here’s the thing – the author’s image comes from Gravatar. Gravatar hooks into the email address listed in your user profile and grabs your profile pic from there.

So, if you don’t have a Gravatar account connected to that email, no photo for you.

Setting up a Gravatar is pretty easy. Since it’s run by the WordPress folks, you can just use your WordPress.com login.

Go to the Gravatar homepage and click “Create your own Gravatar.” Sign up or log in with your WordPress.com account – make sure to use the same email you have in your author profile.

Once you’ve got your Gravatar account, upload a fab photo of yourself. Give it some time to sync up and then you should see your pic pop up in the author box.

One thing to keep in mind – your Gravatar may show up in other places where you’ve commented, not just on your site.

Each author will need to create their own Gravatar with their email to get their image to show. But it’s worth the one-time setup to give your readers a glimpse into the amazing human behind each article.
